The Five People You Meet in Heaven || Current Book Update

This is one of the first few books I've had to read this semester. For my English course on Human Adulthood I had to read, The Five People You Meet in Heaven, by Mitch Albom. This book as about an elderly man who tragically passes away, and in heaven, he meets five people who have played a role in his life. Each of the five people, teach Eddie, the main character, a lesson, which in turn helps him understand why his life turned out the way it did.
I really enjoyed reading this book, it has also been adapted as a movie. The book, was a smooth, quick read, that has lots of different and compelling imagery. I'd like to share the five lessons recited in this book, by the people Eddie meets in heaven.

  1. "There are no random acts." (48) ~ This goes well with what we are all told, everything happens for a reason.
  2. "Sacrifice is a part of life." (93) ~ Sacrifice should not be looked down upon, it should be treated with serenity and gratefulness.
  3. Learn to forgive (142) ~ Holding onto negativity that stems from an experience only weighs you down. Let it go and forgive, the first to forgive is the happiest.
  4. Everyone has a purpose (191) ~ Never feel that you are not special. Everyone has a role in life. We all impact each other's lives, and that is what shapes us into who we become. We can only become wise from our experiences. You are unique, there is a reason God created you with the qualities you have. Take advantage of your skills, excel in life and be happy.

What do you think about these lessons? Are there others you would add?
